you were so small and sick when you came home from africa, but still had a smile that melted my heart. you kept your smile throughout all the poking and testing at the hospital and made a mark on everyone that met you. although they say your life may be short, please know baby girl that you have touched me so deeply. i love you and you are my hero.

To My Mom,
My mom died in July of this past year, 2009. She was in poor health, smoked, and just generally didn't take care of herself. She wasn't only my mom she was my best friend. Somehow her ill health inspired me to not end up that way, which is what my mom would have wanted. I have lost 25 lbs (and counting) and dropped some habits. My 29th marathon is in her honor. I love you mom, I know ur proud!
