LUNA pre, during & post pregnancy

LUNA Bar is a great healthy snack, full of good nutrients that are very important to the development of baby, pre, during and post pregnancy. When choosing foods, you should consider the protein, iron, calcium, fiber and folic acid content.

    1. Calcium: Necessary for formation of baby's bones. Found in dairy, tofu, dark green leafy vegetables and beans. Recommended allowance: 1000-1200 mg LUNA supplies 35% of a woman's recommended daily intake.

    2. Protein provides materials for the growing tissues, including the placenta, the mother's blood and the baby. Its suggested to take 74 grams of protein during pregnancy. LUNA can supply 10 grams of protein in one LUNA.

    3.Folic Acid: Helps to prevent birth defects and promote normal cell growth. Sources include, dark green leafy vegetables, broccoli, beans, fortified orange juice or grains. Recommended allowance: 500-600 mcg LUNA supplies 100% of recommended daily intake for Folic Acid.

    4. Fiber: Fights constipation and helps to control blood sugar level, which reduces the risk of gestational diabetes. Found in legumes, carrots, apples, whole wheat and brown rice. Recommended allowance: 25 grams LUNA can provide 3 grams of fiber per LUNA Bar.

    5. Iron: Helps to prevent anemia in the mother and helps the baby gain weight. Sources of iron are legumes, dark green leafy vegetables, red meat, dried fruits and whole grains. Recommended allowance: 30 milligrams LUNA supplies 35% of a woman's recommended daily intake.

    6. Fluids: Necessary for a multitude of functions including providing for the expanding blood volume that helps to carry nutrients to mom & baby. The best source for fluid is water. Recommended allowance: 8-10 glasses a day. Although LUNA doesn't supply you with fluids, it’s recommended to eat LUNA with 8-10oz of water.
