Katerina Nash
3x Czech Olympic Team Member

Nash is the U.S. Series Short Track champion for the third consecutive year, and a three-time Olympian twice for cross-country skiing, once for mountain biking. For 2008, she hopes to defend her short-track title, finally to get that elusive national cross country title and make her fourth Olympic team to represent the Czech Republic in Beijing. Katerina recently tried her hand at cyclo-cross and immediately made an impact on the U.S. Grand Prix circuit, placing among top three in several events. Katerina holds a BS in Marketing from the University of Nevada, Reno, and works during the off-season in what she calls, "more of a marketing/office job."
A few random questions...
What is your pre-race routine?
"I like to work backwards from my start time and figure out what time to get to the venue and what time to get on my bike and starting to warm up. I also like to figure out all logistics the night before so I don't have to worry about things and have a clear mind to focus on racing. This may seem boring compared to kissing stuffed animals and such, but it works just fine with me and that way I never forget my lucky charm."
What is the funniest thing to happen to you during a race?
"At a race in Idaho I was being proposed to by a junior racer during our race. He stood next to the course with a huge sign reading, 'Katerina will you marry me?' It made me laugh every lap. After the race I went by and signed his poster."
What is your single most memorable race experience?
"Finishing the marathon world championships completely out of energy after 6.5 hours of rain and mud. I barely made it to the finish, but it made me realize that you can push your limits further than you think."
