Why Organic?
We're always looking for ways to make our food even better. That's why all LUNA products are at least 70% USDA certified organic. By using organic ingredients, we're providing the healthiest products possible.
What is Organic Food?
Organic means pure, fresh, delicious food made without the use of synthetic fertilizers,
pesticides, herbicides, hormones or antibiotics. Organic food is grown by farmers who use farming methods that strive for a balance
with nature. Organic farming does not use toxic chemicals or genetically modified organisms (GMO's).
The USDA has created standards for labeling organic food. There are three types of organic labels:
-
Made with Organic Ingredients—for products made with at least 70% organic ingredients, with standards
for the other 30% of ingredients.
- Organic—for products made with at least 95% organic ingredients, with standards for the other 5% of ingredients
- 100% organic—for products that contain 100% organic ingredients
Better For You & Your Family
Food should taste delicious, nourish your body, and help give you the energy you need to get through your day.
Organically-grown ingredients preserve the nutritional value of food. Organic standards also prohibit irradiating
or genetically altering food, the effects of which are still largely unknown. Eating organic foods can also reduce
your exposure to synthetic pesticides and fertilizers as well as artificial hormones and antibiotics. Organic foods
are a safer choice for you and your family. Many believe these higher quality ingredients taste better, too!
Better for the Environment
We've only got one planetit's where we live and the source of all of our food. By keeping toxins out of the
ecosystems, organic farming protects our air, water, soil and wildlife. The organic farmer's fundamental taskbuilding
healthy soilprevents topsoil erosion and boosts fertility. And because organic agriculture relies on nature to
restore imbalancesrather than machines, chemicals or genetic engineeringit protects natural habitats and promotes
the diversity of plant and animal species. It also uses less energy, especially energy from fossil fuels. Organic
farming is a powerful tool in the fight against global warming by storing carbon in the soil and by boosting fertility
instead of releasing it into the atmosphere as a greenhouse gas.
Organic food just makes sensefor people and the planet!
